As has become a CloudWedge tradition, it is time to nominate this week’s Geek of the Week. After much debate and consideration, the team at CloudWedge are happy to announce this week’s Geek of the Week is Stephen Sorkin, Chief Strategy Officer of Splunk.
For anyone who is not yet familiar with this series. A while ago, the CloudWedge team launched a feature called Geek of the Week. In this feature we award the prestigious honor of ‘Geek of the Week’ to someone from our news posts of that week we feel have done something that deserves special mention or praise. This is either directly through their actions or those of their companies. This award is a certification of honor as the receiver is considered to be a ‘cloud leader.’
We talked about Splunk earlier this week in reference to their now offering a 100% uptime guarantee on their service level agreement. We decided to award Stephen with this honor as he is responsible for developing and aligning both product and business strategies across Splunk; and 100% uptime is certainly a promise we can get behind.
Stephen joined Splunk in 2005, and worked up the ranks having held several positions in engineering management, including working as vice president of engineering, director of engineering, and Manager of search and indexing. He has been working as CSO at Splunk since 2013. Before joining Splunk, he worked as a research scientist at HP Labs.
Stephen currently holds 19 U.S. patents, and has a B.S. in computer science from Stanford University and a M.S. in computer science from University of California, Berkeley.
