Signal AI is a  an AI-powered business intelligence and media monitoring company that aggregates, analyses, and provides business leaders with insights into digital, print and broadcast media, news, and regulatory data. Signal AI’s machine learning enables businesses to track their competitive landscape, changes to regulation, and monitor their reputation—empowering them to make smarter, faster business decisions.

Founded in 2013 by David Benigson who also doubles as its CEO, with its headquarters located at London, UK. The company currently has about 12 team members, it has also raised a total of $51.6M in funding over 7 rounds. Their latest funding was raised on Oct 22, 2019 from a Series C round.

The 31 years old CEO was listed among the Forbes 30 under 30 in the year 2017. David Benigson studied English Literature and American Studies at the University of Manchester and he also has a Bachelor of Law from the BPP University in 2011. He then went ahead to found the company in 2013.

According to David, “When we started six years ago, it was by aggregating news data and tapping the repository of global, traditional media. We have since broadened into social media, broadcast and radio, and regulatory information and started to apply more machine learning to structure that data.” In addition to selling services directly, the company now partners with third parties to build analytics around more targeted subjects, such as a changing regulatory climate in a specific area, which in turn is sold on by the third parties to other clients.

“There is a trend / emerging category that is far less crowded and defined than business intelligence or analytics,” Benigson said. “For me, it’s around taking those same values of BI and applying them to the world of data that sits outside the organization. There are very few companies that use augmented intelligence, although we are seeing management consultancy firms and others we potentially compete with convening around this space.”

David is also a known member of some voluntary organizations including Jamie Oliver Foundation, Young Ambassador (Innovate UK).
