Let’s get right to it! This week’s Geek of the Week is a double whammy – Gaurav Manglik and Tenry Fu, Co-Founders of CliQr.
For those of you who missed it (you couldn’t have possibly missed this news), tech giant Cisco announced their intent to purchase CliQr for $260 million earlier this week.
CliQr has made headlines over the past few months for emerging as the go-to source for rapidly deploying cloud applications across public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructures. As a result, Cisco has agreed to preliminary terms with CliQr to buy out the cloud deployment software company in efforts to integrate the CliQr solution into Cisco’s cloud offerings.
In fact, CliQr has steadily become engrained in the Cisco ecosystem for quite some time. CliQr already integrates with Cisco’s data center switching and cloud solutions, including Cisco’s Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and Cisco’s Unified Computing Systems (UCS).
Furthermore, CliQr provides your organization with the ability to bake in compliance measures directly into an app’s deployment profile. Errors in software deployments can leave your business vulnerable to attacks. By ensuring that your apps are packaged and deployed precisely to the specifications of your organization’s internal compliance measures, businesses win because they can rapidly provide tools and platforms that will increase productivity while properly ensuring the security of the data inside the app.
CliQr’s one click management makes deploying applications in the cloud a breeze. CliQr’s intuitive interface also gives organizations the ability to optimize their hybrid cloud deployments, helping you select which data center is best for your specific workload.
This large acquisition was made possible by Mr. Manglik’s strategic and operational direction, and Mr. Fu’s innovation and understanding in the cloud management, distributed systems and network security areas.
As for Mr. Manglik: prior to founding CliQr, he held various positions at IIT Delhi Excellence Foundation, VMWare and Oracle. He has a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
In regard to Mr. Fu: prior to founding CliQr wih Mr. Manglik, he worked for both VMWare and Intel Security. He holds a dual B.S.c. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Congratulations Gaurav and Tenry!
