Geek of the Week: Adrian De Luca

Here at CloudWedge we like to celebrate successes within the cloud industry, especially those that enable further migrations to the cloud. Enabling enterprises to maintain control over their migrations and therefore feel more comfortable with the process is a great thing, and is exactly what Adrian De Luca explained that Hitachi Data Systems is doing, with their ‘your cloud, your way’ approach. We quoted Adrian on this earlier this week on with comments of Hitachi’s Booming Cloud Business. And so, the CloudWedge team are happy to announce this week’s Geek of the Week is, Adrian De Luca, chief technology officer at Hitachi Data Systems.

For anyone who is not yet familiar with this series. Earlier this year, the CloudWedge team launched a feature called Geek of the Week. In this feature we award the prestigious honor of ‘Geek of the Week’ to someone from our news posts of that week we feel have done something that deserves special mention or praise. This is either directly through their actions or those of their companies. This award is a certification of honor as the receiver is considered to be a ‘cloud leader.’

Adrian has worked his way up the ranks of Hitachi Data Systems since 1998. He started off as a software developer working as a contractor and then left for seven months before returning as a full employee.   He came back as a systems engineer, and then worked up to become the director of storage software for ANZ. Then he moved to director of storage software for the whole of Asia Pacific. He next worked as the director of pre-sales and the chief technology officer of ANZ before his current role as chief technology officer for the whole of Asia Pacific, a role that did not exist prior to his appointment. Adrian also served as vice chair for the Storage Networking Industry Association.

Adrian has a degree in Computer Science with a focus on Applied Science form the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
