A number of months ago we launched a feature called Geek of the Week. Every week, CloudWedge nominates a ‘Geek of the week’ to any cloud leader who has been in the news in the last week that we feel deserves special mention or praise.
We are happy to announce this weeks’ Geek of the Week is Andrew Higginbotham, senior vice president, cloud and technology, at CenturyLink Technology Solutions. We mentioned CenturyLink earlier this week in reference to them entering the cloud pricing war. We were impressed with the gall it takes for a company (albeit one as big as CenturyLink) to dare to challenge the ‘big three’ Google, Amazon and Microsoft. This is on top of the fact that CenturyLink Cloud was only launched in November 2013 after the acquisition of Tier 3 a public cloud services provider based in Washington. We feel Andrew deserves this award as he is responsible for strategic initiatives at CenturyLink Cloud.
Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies from Swansea University in Wales, U.K. Before his 10 years at CenturyLink, Andrew was COO of Privista. He has also worked in other senior technical leadership positions for a number of companies including BellSouth and MultiSoft.
