This was yet another big week for the cloud industry. With a number of launches, rounds of funding and cloud adoptions, we decided to pick this week’s geek of the week based on vision of product/service. By this we mean that the service offered is a ‘next level’ offering in the cloud evolution.
Just to give a little context for those not yet familiar with this series: some time ago, the CloudWedge team launched a feature called Geek of the Week. In this feature we award the prestigious honor of ‘Geek of the Week’ to someone from our news posts of that week we feel have done something that deserves special mention or praise. This is either directly through their actions or those of their companies. This award is a certification of honor as the receiver is considered to be a ‘cloud leader.’
CloudWedge are happy to announce that this week’s geek of the week is Matt Bell, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Matterport. Though we spoke about Matterport earlier this week in reference to their Series-B round of funding, it was their end-to-end 3D platform that really impressed us. This platform combines hardware, the cloud and mobile applications for intricate spatial computing.
Prior to founding Matterport in 2010, Matt worked as part of Google’s research team as a computer vision researcher. He also founded media company Reactrix Systems Inc in 2002. Matt has a bachelors in computer science from Stanford University.
