Geek of the Week: Perry Chen
A number of months ago we launched a feature called Geek of the Week. Every week, CloudWedge nominates a ‘Geek of the week’ to any cloud leader who has been in the news in the last week that we feel deserves special mention or praise.
We are happy to announce this weeks’ Geek of the Week is Perry Chen, the Co-Creator and Chairman of Kickstarter. We mentioned Kickstarter this week in reference to Sherlybox, a cloud company that is crowdfunding through the site. We decided to award Chen with this honor for two reasons. Firstly, because we feel Chen showed vision with creating Kickstarter, by putting the users in control of what they want and what they feel is important to happen. Secondly, we will always support the development of the cloud industry, and this is not the first cloud company that is using Kickstarter to get off the ground. Pixeom, a cloud device company, was fully funded from the site back in January.
Since its launch in 2009, Kickstarter has funded over funding more than 63,000 different projects with over $1 billion pledged by over that five million people.
