J2 Global Moving to Australia With Web24

J2 Global, a Los Angeles based internet services provider announced earlier this week its acquisition of Web24, a Melbourne based web hosting company. The terms of the acquisition have not yet been disclosed.

Web 24 offers a range of services including, domains and SSL, VPS and cloud Web hosting solutions. Though their main focus is on Australian users, as all data is stored in Australian datacenters, they also service international users. Some of their better known users include: Australia Post, Kmart, RMIT University and Foster’s Group.

Through this acquisition J2 Global will be able to both move into both web hosting and the Australian market, by benefiting from the infrastructure and expertise of Web24. J2 Global currently offer internet fax, unified communications and customer relationship management (CRM) offerings, so this move into the web hosting market is an exciting step for them. Hemi Zucker CEO at J2 Global said, “This acquisition and our entry into the web hosting arena provide J2 skilled personnel and an industry leading platform for delivering world-class hosting and related services…This positions us to leverage these assets to expand this business both within Australia and to other countries, broadening J2’s business cloud services solutions globally.”

Zucker reassured existing Web24 users of the safety of their data explaining that, “All data for Web24’s Australian customers will continue to be stored exclusively in Australia.”

Melinda Munns general manager at Web24 explained how things will continue as “business as usual” for Web24 users as all of its services will continue to remain the same. She said, “We will ensure that our customers receive the same level of service that they have expected in the past. J2 love what we are doing and have told us to continue as usual.”
