Acronis is a tech organization that has made a name for itself in the disk management and administration arena. 2014 has been a year of transformation at Acronis as the software maker has entered the mergers and acquisitions market in order to expand their cloud based services. Earlier this month, Acronis was noted as buying BackupAgent. Acronis has wasted no time and followed up that deal with the acquisition of nScaled. The purchase of nScaled gives Acronis a full blown disaster recovery as a service solution that it can begin selling to its clientele.
“With the addition of nScaled technology, we provide a capability to restore to the cloud, and customers can restore their operations without waiting for replacement hardware to restore on-premises,” says Acronis CEO Serguei Beloussov.
nScaled is being described as a San Francisco based company that provides DR solutions that are compliant with industry and government standards. nScaled provides virtual and physical data center appliances which are designed to allow businesses to smoothly transition their work into the cloud should a major DR scenario arise. The Acronis PR release mentions that nScaled has data centers located in Dallas, TX, Ashburn, VA and London, UK.
Current nScaled customers will see no change in service. nScaled mentioned, “Existing nScaled customers will continue to enjoy the same reliable and user-friendly solution that they have come to know and love over the years. The extensive network of Acronis partners will make the complete cloud backup and disaster recovery solution available to all customers in the world, significantly increasing the geography for nScaled technology.”
Bradley Kolb, the CEO of nScaled, released a statement saying, “As part of the Acronis team, nScaled will have access to even more resources globally to further evolve our disaster recovery services, delivering enhanced protection of our customers’ IT infrastructure, applications and data.”
