The widely-known provider of the amazing X-Ware IoT Platform, powered by the ThreadX® real-time operating system (RTOS)—Express Logic, just made an announcement that its GUIX® graphic user interface run-time solution has reached its topmost level of safety certification for the rigorous and strict IEC 61508 SIL 4, IEC 62304 Class C, ISO 26262 ASIL D and EN 50128 SW-SIL 4 safety standards. This new certification obtained by SGS-TUV Saar is specifically suited to the embedded industry, crowning GUIX as the one and only option for applications that are safety-oriented, yet have a user interface and requires certification.
SGS-TUV Saar is formed by a partnership between TUV Saarland and Germany’s SGS Group. It is a leader, yet an accredited, independent company for auditing, certifying and verifying embedded software for systems which are safety-related, all over the world.
The standard for industrial safety, IEC 61508 and all the standards coined from it, including ISO 26262, IEC 62304 and EN 50128 are employed to ascertain the functional safety of electronic, electrical, process control systems, industrial machinery, and programmable electrical safety-related medical devices.
SGS-TUV Saar founded its evaluation standard on a rigorous test suite for GUIX. The GUIX test suite rather involved quite a number of application simulations and thoroughly performs functional “black box” testing over the entire GUIX software product. The testing exercises 100% of the widely known GUIX C code, including 100% branch decision coverage.
About the new solution, the CEO of Express Logic expressed their intentions as he reported that the company is fully committed to supplying the topmost quality products, while saving their customers time and money, all in a bid to cut down risks. In addition to this, he expressed his joy on how the new certification of GUIX will allow customers with needs for user interface to take hold of the advantages of their safety and security certified, one in a million offering.
