The Flatiron School has a new scholarship available that will help provide students with an accelerated program to aid in learning 21st-century technology skills.
The scholarship specifically targets those that the school considers being “underrepresented communities”. Those who qualify could begin applying for the scholarship as of yesterday.
The Income Share Agreement allows students to not only defer their remaining tuition until after graduation, but they will also receive an additional Access Scholarship that is $3000.
The goal of this initiative is to increase the amount of high-quality talent that is available to companies looking to hire. They want to make sure that the students end up well-trained and in a meaningful career.
The school is considering underrepresented communities to include:
- Underrepresented minorities
- People with disabilities
- Women
- Veterans
- The LGBTQ+ community
The school also announced the launch of two more programs that they have designed to allow access to the technology fields to these groups.
Cognizant U.S. Foundation is partnering with the Flatiron School to launch the NexTech100 scholarship which will award a total of $1.2 million worth of funds to 100 students from the backgrounds above or who show a high need for assistance.
The second scholarship initiative is called Women Take Tech Initiative. It is geared toward gender equality in the tech world. They boast about how 1,000 women grads from their programs have obtained tech jobs.
The school also offers a money-back guarantee. If you are not hired within the first 6 months after enrolling, completing the program, and graduating, all tuition expenses will be reimbursed to you.
Qualifying programs with this guarantee include data science, software engineering, cybersecurity analytics, cybersecurity engineering, and UX/UI design.
Tuition prices vary based on the program selected. There are Flatiron School campuses that range from the Eastern United States coast to the Western coast, as well as overseas.
The school was founded in 2010 in Manhattan and went online in 2015.
