Egnyte Review

Launched in 2007 from tech hub Silicon Valley, Egnyte are an enterprise file backup, sync and share solution. They currently service over 40,000 users, giving them intricate control over their files and sharing permissions, right down to the granular level. Egnyte is not only privately held, it is extremely well funded. Its investors include Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Polaris Partners, Floodgate Fund, Northgate, CenturyLink and Seagate.

Other key features include:

  • Drag and drop
  • Desktop app
  • Optimized for collaboration
  • Automatic updates
  • Granular sub-folder permissions

Ease of Use

Setup is pretty straightforward and the process only takes a few minutes. If for any reason you are unfamiliar with the standard installation process, Egynte provides a step by step video to walk you through the process. Once set up, you are given access to detailed reports and data specially provided for you to make the most of the information. These are given in the form of real-time audit reports. Included in these reports are information on user activities, file actions, permission changes, remaining and used storage capacities, as well as other statistics.
